On Friday, August 1, Hayley Williams released 17 new tracks. Not an album, just 17 separate tracks. I think they’re meant to be assembled by the listener into a playlist in whatever order they please.

For those who are outside the Hayley Williams circle of influence (one that I realize extends far beyond millennials who attended Warped Tour, though that’s the ministry I’m personally familiar with), she is the lead singer of a band called Paramore. Hayley founded Paramore with a group of friends when she was a teenager, and though they’ve broken up many times, and been through several lineup changes as members fell out personally, the group—like its Saturn in Capricorn founders—has persisted for over 20 years. Three years ago, Williams announced that she was dating fellow founding band member (and childhood friend) Taylor York. The fanbase swooned at this friends to lovers story.

Cut to now: The lyrics of the 17 new tracks Hayley released on Friday have revealed that Taylor and Hayley are definitely not together anymore. Paramore is recently free of record deal obligations, and the fate of the band also seems to be up in the air. In my personal opinion though, the songs are beautiful.

The beauty, chaos and inherent contradictions of this album drop and surrounding interpersonal situation are a perfect illustration of this week’s astrology. There’s no title for this not album, but many fans are calling it Ego Death, which is another apt description of this week.

To get right into it: this week’s astrology is pivotal. If you’re asking, “WTF is going on ?!” You’re right on time. There are multiple stories happening at once, and all are reaching some kind of peak, resolution, or fresh start. It’s a lot to wrap one’s head around, and what I’m going to do here is show you how I’m wrapping my head around it. What touchpoints in the past I’m looking to for clues and solace, and how to tease apart the different threads.

To get the tough things out of the way first, let’s talk about Mars and Saturn. The two bad boys of the zodiac. Mars and Saturn both say “No,” but do so in very different ways. Mars cuts things off while Saturn puts up roadblocks. In ancient times, aspects between these two planets were used to predict the war cycle. In our modern little lives, I think their aspects show the initiation, climax and resolution of our problems.

Here’s a timeline. It may be helpful to revisit these dates and consider what you were moving through. That being said, try not to linger here long (easy for me to say…), grab the information and stay in the present.
