together, we all do: horoscopes for today's new moon in taurus
Hallo sweet bbz,
As I write this note, the moon is in Taurus, moving through the final stages of her balsamic period. Her dark period. Gathering up the final lessons from the current (past) cycle to plant as seeds.
At 3:46 pm PDT, the moon will meet the sun.
The moon will be new in our bb earth sign, Taurus.
The cycle renews.
(It always does.)

When the moon is new, we don’t see her in the sky.
This morning, she rose minutes before the sun - a tiny sliver, quickly obscured by infinite light.
Not until later this week,
when she is about 45º behind the sun, in zodiacal distance,
will she appear:
a tiny crescent for a moment after sunset.
The tiny crescent is our signal to begin.
The tiny crescent is our signal to move ahead with the energy we have gathered while the moon has been dark.
(Many say the balsamic moon phase is a good time to sweep
and the new moon phase is a good time to plan.)
But what shall we plan?
How shall we begin?
--
We must gather.

This Taurus new moon is particular.
This Taurus season is particular.
Today’s new moon is ruled by Venus in Aries.
In Aries, Venus is in her exile. Out of her element. A bit loud.
Venus in Aries has a singular vision.
Venus in Aries wants to be the hero.
In “When The Hero is the Problem” (a highly recommended read), Rebecca Solnit writes,
“Lone hero narratives push one figure into the public eye, but they push everyone else back into private life, or at least a passive life.” Solnit is highlighting the American (and global) obsession with heroes: the narrative of the individual as saviour. We don’t want to consider the planning that goes into even the most radical of events. She continues, “We are not very good at telling stories about a hundred people doing things or considering that the qualities that matter in saving a valley or changing the world are mostly not physical courage and violent clashes but the ability to coordinate and inspire and connect with lots of other people and create stories about what could be and how we get there.”
In an interview with Vogue last December, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, speaking out against singlehanded success, insists, “No one person can save us...I don’t think Obama failed us because in many ways, we failed him...We elected him and then we were nowhere to be found in 2010, in 2012, in 2014...and that’s on us.” AOC, a hero to many, has always been insistent that she isn’t an individual sent to Washington D.C. to save the world. She is a representative of a movement that will save the world. Knock Down the House (or “the AOC Netflix documentary” as our singular-vision-loving culture has “shorthanded” it) is a new documentary by Rachel Lears and Robin Blotnick, following the campaigns of four progressive women challenging establishment politicians in the 2018 midterm election. In one scene, we see AOC, in her living room in the Bronx, drinking a bodega coffee and anxiously avoiding a buttered roll handed to her by her boyfriend, Riley Roberts. She is preparing to debate her opponent: longtime incumbent Congressman and “fourth most powerful Democrat in Washington,” Joe Crowley.
“I am debating on behalf of the movement tonight,” she says. “This is not about electing me to Congress. This is about electing us to Congress. That’s what I have to communicate.”
In her next breath, she begins an affirmation. For herself.
“I can do this.
I am experienced enough to do this.
I am knowledgeable enough to do this.
I am prepared enough to do this.
I am mature enough to do this.
I am brave enough to do this.”
(To invoke a recent but already passé meme, “I’m baby!”)
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a powerhouse. A starry dynamo. Seemingly unafraid. Nominated by her brother to work with Brand New Congress and develop her historic campaign, she took on the privilege and burden of embodied leadership. As driven as she is selfless, she is still human and nervous and growing. Throughout Knock Down the House (and also always on social media), we see her triumphant at rallies, awkward while canvassing, terrified to lose, and elated to win. We adore her, but she will not save us. We will save us.
Movements need leaders.
Movements need organizers.
Movements need a starry personality in the front row.
Movements do need starry dynamos.
These starry dynamos are representations of us - our enthusiasms, our fears, our needs.
Leaders take up space so the rest can be heard and spread the message (in a bottle).
But they are not the message.
We are the message.
We must move together.
We must gather.
Harmony does not mean homogeny.
(Think of a bowl of ramen. How delicious.)
Unity is listening.
With Uranus in Taurus, and the Sun, Mercury and Venus all joining the planet of revolution this Spring, we must ask ourselves,
“How do we gather?
How can we do it differently?
How can we all get on the chairlift to the green mountaintop?”
We are returning to a broken earth.
We must be humble to restore ourselves.
What goes inside the bowl is negotiable.
It can all fit.
The bowl contains noodles AND broth.
How do we fill our days?
How do will our bowls?
And fill their bowls?
We can’t care for ourselves the same way.
We must do it differently.
No one has the answer,
But, together, we all do.
(tl;dr: have a conversation and lick some chicken fat off the pan.
Plan a meeting.)
Love you love you love you
new moon blessings,
Jaime

Aries
You’ve found the source of the hot spring. The water is warm. so … swim! Yes, you are loud. Yes, your face is red. (You didn’t find this treasure silently.) But it’s a new place. It’s outdoors. The lawn is yours. Accept that though things are less personal, they are equally rich. Take some time to plan yr meals. Remember how you nourished yourself in the cold? Prepare for that. Trust the security of the coming movement.
Taurus
Recently, you started an uprising at the office. Company-wide. A red flag at yr desk. A warning fire. A belligerent smoke signal. This wasn’t intentional, but you had a feeling. (never mind that it was simply a mis-directed lunch delivery taken to an extreme). Use this time to harness yr personal power. Stop letting things just happen to you. Sometimes, yes, it’s inevitable to continue. But you can jump. Remember: shouting isn’t necessary. You can write. Accept yr passion.
Gemini
You have been very inspired by yr community. Touch the bonfire in yr dreams. You won’t burn from taking the heat. Yr friends inspire the spells you must cast. Fill a cauldron with these flashes of genius & head to the woods. You must begin elsewhere. Take this month to accept that. When you return to the party, you’ll recognize yr own spark - carried across states & generations. Blessings from yr bff’s are even more powerful after fermentation. And you’ve added only the best herbs to the jar.
Cancer
Right now, you are having as much fun with yr friends as you are having printing the posters and putting yr name in lights. ACCEPT yr place on the marquee, and don’t let it get to yr heard! You have been chosen to represent yr community because of yr hard work and because of yr undeniable power. Bring yr neon pink light to the green field. Give yrself a shoutout. It won’t always be yr turn, but this section is yours.
Leo
You may be one of the starry dynamos. Yr philosophies have gone rogue. Remember to be respectful on the plane as you politely ask for another shooter of Chambray. A new world view, or a more embodied forever-view, is a celebration. Don’t keep yr wisdom locked up behind the monastery door. Think wildly. Lead gently. You are the trusted choir leader, and it’s time to check if the students have done their work. No one else is checking! Prepare the message & give the assignment.
Virgo
You must kill yr idols to become one. You have a ton of ambition toward new collaborations, toward new eternities, toward new investments. Let yr commitments guide yr philosophies. When you can no longer articulate the lesson plan, when you no longer can bear the flight overseas - break the promise & start a new cult. For now, remember you are a partner in this holy study. Get a new cape for the first day of class.
Libra
For the first time ever, you have been reading the fine print & accepting yr own evil genius for negotiation (/ love). You want harmony with wild horses. Perhaps this is why you never settle. Use this cycle to accept how uncomplicated yr desires actually are. Engage in solving the mystery rather than perpetuating it. You may never be satisfied (or still), but you will find peace in pursuit. Run as wild as yr enemies. You’ve let them define you so look at yourself.
Scorpio
You want love. You want to fall gracefully into the sunset. Sensuality is yr decay. This all requires toil. You can be yr own advocate in the battle though. You can be the hand in the dusk. You’ve avoided defining what you want because you wanted to meet on the same page. Accept the need to lift and that what’s worth it will be easier (still work, but easier).
Sagittarius
Grab some wine / roast a chicken / order a lifetime supply of La Croix, and bring what you LOVE to the CAUSE. Make the battle pleasurable. Through meeting others in their song. The collage might be a mess, but seeing the creator’s gentle hands provides humanity. You can work with yr friends. You can SERVE yr art. Don’t be discouraged by ways it has felt boring in the past. Now, it is fun. Now it is right.
Capricorn
A gathering of wild women in yr home has provided the transcript for yr next creation. The purple lamp has come alive. The chartreuse rug speaks. The magenta mannequin needs a new dress. Hang on tight to these unique wares (don’t put them in storage yet). But leave them when it gets too precious. You need fresh comfort from yr art so bring yr cushion to the bar.
Aquarius
Get on the train with yr most outspoken confidante. Take in their view. See the restaurant through their glass of orange wine. Let them infuse yr vibe. You are learning to sit with yrself (again) in silence. It’s all a practice in meditation. You are in someone else’s yard, but you can still follow yr own (personal) rules. Don’t be rude, but listen without judgement. Leave when you can. It’s a ride. Let the tide pool settle at yr doorstep.
Pisces
A recent signal encouraged you to get closer to plants. Closer to god. Closer to yr own values. You’ll find yr place in yr chosen family when you trust in yr ability to provide. You can be a little sister and also balance yr checkbook. You can host yr own master class. Knowledge is not linear, but you must take up space where you always return.
