(pssst: if you’re looking for the link to this week’s good fortune!, you can find it here.)
popping in with a very quick sun day post today because life is life-ing.
that full moon in aries, right? how was THAT for you? I wasn’t expecting floods in new york on such a fire-y full moon. but I guess all that water IS because of a heating planet/climate collapse. (spiral eye emoji, upside down smiley face emoji, melting face emoji/ all used in a way that is too on the nose)
if you, like me, are experiencing some turbulence. may I suggest—for comfort—playing one of my favorite little astro games?
I have this theory that if you find artists (or, writers/thinkers/public figures that get it/etc.) with their sun at the same degree as your IC (root of chart/privacy/home point), you will find words/images/work that makes you feel at home. You can think of the IC as the hearth of your chart, and this game lets you see who’s lighting the fire and keeping you cozy.
for example, my IC is at 4º Capricorn—the Sun is at 4º Capricorn around December 25 or 26. not a coincidence that Christmas has always been my favorite holiday! James Mercer of The Shins, my favorite lyricist of all time, was born on December 26. Jeremy Strong, the actor whose earnest hijinks I will defend to the death, was born on December 25. some other faves of mine born around that date are Dev Hynes (December 23), Louise Bourgeois (December 25), Timothée Chalamet (December 27), and Hayley Williams (December 27).
to find your IC, you can use this tool to bring up your chart. You’ll see the degree of the IC listed in the table to the right of the circle chart, I’ve highlighted (in pink) where it is below:
Then you can use this tool to search public figures with their Sun in the same degree as your IC. Use the drop down menu to select the sign and then the degree, then click search. You’ll get an exhaustive list of celebs which also shows the date of birth so that you can do your own googling and keep that date in mind for future events and inspirations. you might also notice you have a lot of friends born around this date!
Let me know in the comments who’s tending your hearth!
good fortune!
The chill September vibes are decidedly OVER, and we’re onto Eclipse Season! Change is in the air! But first, we have to release some hang ups from the past—some from six weeks ago and some from TWO YEARS ago. We also get into: the end of our four month Venus in Leo journey, Mercury in Libra as the ultimate highbrow comedy (or, inside joke) placement, and my favorite time twins: St. Vincent and Lil Wayne.
eyes on
Survivor is back for Season 45, bb! I had never seen a single episode of Survivor until…December 31, 2022, and now I have watched … 16 seasons of it? I’m obsessed. Please sound off in the comments if you’re at all interested in the essay I have been writing for my own amusement - “The Astrology of Survivor.” Whether you’re into it or not, it will be published lol.
Niki de Saint Phalle’s Tarot Garden in Tuscany — going to try to go here while I’m … in Italy next week? (a flex, I know)
I’m going through one of my phases where I can’t stop listening to The National, and have been listening to this song of theirs on repeat like it’s a little prayer:
Obsessed with Astra Taylor after reading this interview in The New Yorker, and can’t wait to read her book.
My books are filling up for October! I have approximately 5 or 6 spots left. You can grab one here :)
happy sunday, bbz!
