horoscopes for today's full moon in leo
1/28/21 - full moon in leo
“Even if it's me rapping or if it's me having a conversation with somebody, I'm going to make you feel like you are that bitch. Because you're already that bitch—you somehow just need it stirred up for you. It's like, when you put the Kool-Aid in the water and it all fall to the bottom. But when you mix it up with the sugar, now it's Kool-Aid. You just need somebody to stir it up for you. That's me.” - Megan Thee Stallion (born on a Leo Full Moon) in an interview with Allison P. Davis for GQ, 2020.

oh hallo my bbz,
The Full Moon in Leo arrives this afternoon (1/28) at 2:16 PM EST.
You might have noticed that I didn’t write to you at the New Moon in Capricorn on the 13th. I wanted to but I couldn’t get it together. There was a lot going on (& also nothing going on). But because Full Moons express themselves as culminations and illuminations of intentions that were set, seeds that were planted and vibes that were collected at the New Moon, I wanted to briefly “reminisce.”
The New Moon in Capricorn on the 13th was almost exactly conjunct Pluto. Planet of death, rebirth, alchemy, composting. Turning garbage into gold. Melting plastic. Destroying and renewing vibes. Traumatic events occur when Pluto’s involved. Loss is articulated. This lunation occurred at the same degree as the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of January 12, 2020 ––an alignment that happens once every 35 years, demolishing power structures so we can start again. It was the Saturn-Pluto conjunction that set the tone for the collective trauma that we experienced in 2020 and are still experiencing now. In a way, that New Moon was a reminder that we’re still working through something. There’s still something to purge. As much as we’re ready to move on, move ahead and fight the good fight, the dust hasn’t settled. Though New Moons are meant to feel like a click of the refresh button, this one felt more like the three steps back that we begrudgingly take after being so proud that we had made it two steps ahead. The Two of Wands is pulled after the Three of Wands. Start again.
For Aries (& Aries rising), this feeling of loss was about your career or your image
For Taurus (& Taurus rising), this feeling of loss was about your philosophy, your legacy or your goals
For Gemini (& Gemini rising), this feeling of loss was about loss itself & all the resulting risks & rewards
For Cancer (& Cancer rising), this feeling of loss was about relationships, contracts & commitments
For Leo (& Leo rising), this feeling of loss was about your sense of responsibility
For Virgo (& Virgo rising), this feeling of loss was about romance & creativity
For Libra (& Libra rising), this feeling of loss was about your home or family
For Scorpio (& Scorpio rising), this feeling of loss was about your connections & environment
For Sagittarius (& Sagittarius rising), this feeling of loss was about your sense of security
For Capricorn (& Capricorn rising), this feeling of loss was about your body or mind
For Aquarius (& Aquarius rising), this feeling of loss was about isolation
For Pisces (& Pisces rising), this feeling of loss was about your friends
That’s where we began this lunation cycle. In some ways it was rock bottom. But where are we now?
The Sun and Mercury have since moved into Aquarius, joining Jupiter and Saturn, making a pileup of planets in the water bearer’s sign. Aquarius is like a well. Solid, steady, carefully observant. Systems need to be in place to access its resources. The castle is built so what’s going on inside? What briefings are worth subscribing to? Is it gossip or is it vital information? (This is not me ragging on gossip, this is me saying that ACTUALLY gossip is power, the best information).
Squaring all the planets in Aquarius is Mars. Sitting pretty like a cow out to pasture in Taurus where the action planet doesn’t want to do anything unless what has to be done is absolutely necessary. Mars in Taurus needs to be on a deadline. But Mars is also with Uranus: planet of disruption and innovation and revolution. How can we make this ongoing battle sustainable? Rupture when we must. Volcanic when we try.
Since the New Moon on the 13th, we’ve entered a completely different paradigm. But that old pain still remains. We’re tired and restless. Venus is now at the same degree as Pluto. An aspect that usually speaks of obsession, sending one million text messages, giving in to an impulse. Today's a reminder that nothing is ever going to be the same. It’s OK to grieve. It’s OK to let things change. It’s OK to move on while still acknowledging the past.
Today’s Full Moon sheds light on the struggle we’re currently experiencing. Rather than the one we’ve left behind. There’s a huge opportunity for movement. Tasks that must be done. Ideas that must be drawn. Songs that must be written.
Leo is ruled by the Sun but the first decan of Leo (where this Full Moon is happening at 9º of the lion’s sign) is ruled by both the Sun and Saturn. The Sun is a performer. Saturn is rules. Austin Coppock describes this planetary mix as “stage fright” or “stage bravery.” To further translate that, I think it’s a matter of “stage fright” or “stage presence” & how they can be the same thing. Some of the most brilliant performers I’ve known in my life are nervous wrecks backstage. Popping beta blockers. Screaming when you reveal a mutual friend is in the audience. Desperately practicing their lines over and over and over again. From High School one acts to Off Broadway runs, I’ve worked with and encountered these terrified and absolutely brilliant performers. So aware of their duty. In awe of the power of theatre. Sometimes to be powerful ––especially as people who don’t typically hold power–– we have to raise the stakes of the situation for ourselves. Create urgency. Lose ourselves in the footlights. Is it worth succeeding if there’s no risk of failure? Isn’t it better to fail big than not try at all? In my experience, the nervous actors never fail on stage. They always steal the show.
The Sun is conjunct Jupiter today. There’s space to be taken up. So let’s take it up. Let’s expand.
The poem won’t write itself. The limbs won’t stretch themselves. The potions won’t mix themselves.
This Full Moon comes with stakes. Self-imposed but high stakes. Let’s give shows like we’ve never had so many shows to give. It’s an optimistic beginning. We can’t do everything right but we can do something. Love you xoxo, Jaime
(Paris Hilton ––also born on a Leo Full Moon–– as depicted in the work of Barbara Kruger ––who was born with the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Cancer, waxing toward a Full Moon in Leo. Paris Hilton is the perfect example of the Leo Moon performer. Not being a dumb blonde but playing one on TV. Nervous as hell before she gets on stage as a DJ. "That's hot." With Kruger too, the Aquarius sun doesn't want attention but the Leo Moon laps it up. Finding a balance when the performance becomes the object becomes the art.)

Aries
When are you going to let yourself off the hook? Let yourself be? Be free. This full moon falls in your pleasure sector and wants you to stop taking yourself so goddamn seriously. You don’t need to read that book if it’s boring. Pour yourself a cocktail (or a mocktail!) instead. Read something trashy. Watch The O.C. If you must be productive, pick up Pleasure Activism but don’t take notes. Please. Not tonight. Just draw. Just paint. Just sing. Finding resonance doesn’t have to be an assignment. Why not do it for love?
Taurus
Close your eyes and imagine a safe space. What objects are you keeping? Who is there by your side? Today’s Full Moon is here to remind you that you don’t have to perform to be loved. You’re lovable just the way you are. Seriously. Now, that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook completely because: you still have to put all that available effort into making yourself comfortable. There’s so much joy in curating your own private world so spend some glamour on yourself. Dust off the silly porcelain vase and the linen duvet and the gaudy rug and get a whole chicken for roasting. Feast tonight.
Gemini
Are you a product of your environment or is your environment a product of you? Jack Nicholson, playing the mob boss Frank Costello in The Departed insists (as “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones blares) that his environment is a product of his efforts but –– what you’re going for is more of a mix of both things. Most of your work this year has to do with dreaming, with ideation, with becoming the next great season of yourself. But who is that next great season when she’s sipping her coffee or staring into the abyss or riding her bike? Do some of that today.
Cancer
Forget about special: what makes you feel secure? When everything hinges on being a “moment” or an “effort” or a “win” of course we all feel vulnerable and exposed. For much of 2020 you were seeking a high that never came, a thrill that never peaked. Today’s full moon reminds you of the goods that you have, the comforts that are purely yours. Your value is a resource, no matter how small. You’re still worth something while you’re growing! Remember how excited you were when your houseplant sprouted a new leaf? You have lots of leaves so water them.
Leo
When you’ve stepped away from yourself, how do you return? Today’s full moon lights up that breadcrumb path back to your heart. You’ve been on a humbling journey. One of relying on others in ways you resist. You’re realizing that growth comes with commitment which involves a contract which involves an other. But don’t forget that while you lose a bit of autonomy with every agreement, you also gain strength in yourself. Recognize your strength today. Keep hydrated. Get into some competitive hydration if that’s your thing. You’re not doing this alone but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stay ready.
Virgo
What if you indulged all of that pain? Led with your wounded paw? What do those tears look like? Today is for screaming. Today is for crying. Today is for shouting it from the rooftops. “When there’s nothing left to burn/ you have to set yourself on fire” etcetera etcetera etcetera. Today’s Full Moon falls in your house of self undoing. A place where you go to lose yourself with pride. Lose yourself like everyone’s watching. You lose yourself so you can become yourself. Show up more for the collective. It’s not easy having to hide your glory for the sake of being correct. Find the courage to be wrong.
Libra
When you’re not purposefully alienating yourself, where do you fit in? Today’s full moon reminds you that you have a community, an audience, a group of willing cheerleaders. Let the purple heart emojis roll into your inbox. Let your heart sing. Someone is listening to you. You forget that you’ve done work before that is still reverberating. Trust that even if your creativity is blocked now, you've left a trail that someone else can find. In fact, you might learn to appreciate yourself when you listen to the effusive applause of your fans. Do a trust fall & take your own advice.
Scorpio
Yes, there’s a lot going on, a lot happening in the world that seems way more important than your own personal achievements ––but can you just calm down and let yourself be proud? Today’s full moon lights up your house of public image. Your praxis. Praxis makes perfect. Or something like that. Never stop doubting that you’re a leader. Let today’s lunation remind you that even when you’re stuck in the mud, you can show up and do a lot of good. Everyone looks up to you. Seriously. They told me. So what example are you trying to set?
Sagittarius
Forget about making something of yourself: how do you want to dissolve? How many brothy bowls of soup will it take to get you through the next few years? Today’s full moon is a reminder that it’s fine to admit defeat and get lost in the Milky Way of knowledge. There’s a lot going on. Everyone is bothering you. But it’s all for a reason, right? If it isn’t well–– make a reason. Close all the tabs and shut all the doors and put up an away message and get lost in some poems, some movements, some celestial wanderings. Get in touch with what made you dream in the first place. Look up.
Capricorn
Back in August, you made a bet and now it’s time to evaluate it. You took the leap and it was a risk so were there rewards? Are you happy that you bet on yourself? If you aren’t, that’s OK. You can rewrite the business plan or take a breather or apply for more jobs. What you’re learning is that support comes from somewhere but you don’t have to live inside that support. You don’t have to sell your soul to something just because it helped you out one time. Today’s full moon is an opportunity to close out the account and collect what’s truly yours. Alternatively: it's time to congratulate yourself on making a good bet. Don’t overlook your most promising resources.
Aquarius
Who keeps showing up for you? Even when you’re being a brat? You’re allowed to be selfish but someone keeps handing you the mic. Letting you go off. You’re not always the person who dives into the ocean of sincerity but thank them today from the bottom of your heart. It’s OK to be a delicate ball of clay, a frenetic jumble of nerves, a person who simply can’t live without someone else’s presence. Others might call this vulnerability but you call it a new hope. Return the recognition and support when you can. It’s going to be a long year.
Pisces
You’re successful because you wake up everyday and accept you have a body. You zip up your flesh sack, pour your matcha into a bowl and head into the ether. It’s disgusting to be alive. It’s endlessly messy to care for yourself, to dry your tears, to pick up the spoon. But you’re doing it. How can you make yourself more comfortable? Let yourself off the existential hook? You’re really diving into the depths these days. Trapped between what’s now and what’s next. Flirting with the liminal ––and you don’t even think the liminal’s that hot. Try to ground yourself despite (or because of) the itchiness of being human.
