Oh goddess, bbs. Hello! Hope you’re hanging in there during this particularly existential holiday season. (Is it just me?)
Tonight (late night, 2:43 AM ET on December 4th) , there’s a Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius. This is the final lunation in the Gemini-Sagittarius eclipse cycle that has challenged dogma and increased polarity since May 2020. Eclipses occur when the moon’s orbit intersects with the apparent path of the sun (the ecliptic) at the lunar nodes. Rahu, or the North Node—where we tip toward infinity—is in Gemini. Rahu yearns. Rahu in Gemini has kept us hungry for dualism, autodidacts, jacks-of-all trades, masters-of-none, multiplicity, conspiracy, skepticism, jokes, mind games and rabbit-holes of “information.” Meanwhile, Ketu, or the South Node—where less is more—is in Sagittarius. Ketu decreases but Ketu also spiritualizes. Ketu in Sagittarius has taught us to question our gurus (like, how many shows about taking down cult leaders have come out since May 2020?). It has also restricted all things associated with the intrepid fire sign: travel, education, institutional validation, philosophers, raves, hedonism, horses, big dick energy (for better or for worse) and well, joy. Yes, it’s good to challenge our teachers. Yes, it’s right to put our education into our own hands. But what about the thrill of the great unknown? Who’s hosting the intellectual orgy? We can’t do learn everything on our own.
Sure, we’re less pretentious than we were 18 months ago, but we’re still in a spiritual crisis.
We won’t have another eclipse in Sagittarius until 2029. This one is a finale. Think back to June 5, 2020. Think back to December 14, 2020. Think back to May 26, 2021. What was relevant then is potent now. Tonight brings the denouement or perhaps one final climactic ending to this story. It’s been a tale of restriction, decrease, and letting go of outdated beliefs. Many of us are sitting with a void, reaching for an empty glass. This cycle has destroyed our faith in a lot of things. But it’s also freed us up to attend to what remains with more devotion.
A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon, but tonight, this weekend, this coming week even isn’t a time to set intentions. Neptune’s influence also hangs heavy with this eclipse. The planet of haze stationed direct on the 1st, putting an exclamation point on all things confusing. Clouds overcome a blue, meditative sky. Combine this with this eclipse falling in the second decan of Sagittarius: a cosmic geography where we’ve lost the initial adrenaline from setting out on an adventure and now must finesse our maneuvers from great heights. While doing so, we must admit that yes, ok, we’re scared. Impulses must be tamed and fire must be strategic. Though we needed to risk it all to get going, now we need to do less. Eclipses—in their own special, cathartic, volatile way—bring clarity. The clarity of an ending, not of a new beginning. With Neptune involved, we might not know exactly how the story is ending right now. that’s OK. Wait until the fog clears.
It’s a potent moment to accept what’s futile. To forgive and even to forget. Again, this Eclipse is on Ketu. I call Ketu the cosmic garbage disposal because it’s very efficient at flushing the trash away. Ketu knows that whatever tiny attachment we have to something, that makes us “feel” “better” isn’t worth compromising our peace of mind.
That being said, I understand that “letting go” is easier said than done. Some of us might be feeling extra empty and troublingly existential. We want to hold onto what makes us feel alive, even when it’s poison. It’s hard to fuss over a fire when you’re too depressed to gather the tinder or locate the matches. Who needs a flame when you can just be lonely and cold and content with the rubble? When in doubt, keep it simple. You can’t stop what’s ready to fall away.. Tidy. Pray. Nap. Take a salt bath. Do not play god or play with god. (If you want to get really freaky and go hard on a ritual, Kaitlin Coppock of Sphere and Sundry has these amazing astro-magical protocols for South Node Eclipses.) Trust the story’s already unfolding. Maybe not as you would like it to unfold, but as it should unfold. Loss is never really in our hands. But we can control how we treat what remains, including ourselves.
Sending you a tiny flame & lots of love xoxo, Jaime

Sagittarius
It will feel good to laugh at yourself again. You’re not quite there yet though. As much as you’ve opened yourself up to love and connection (and the requisite amount of bullshit from other people) over the last 18 months, you’ve lost a lot of your own joie de vivre along with your bad habits. Distractions are no longer available. Your kingdom expanded but your identity’s still up for grabs. Less shapeshifting, more downsizing. Maybe that’s OK. Maybe it’s ideal to move through the world with nothing but a carry-on. You know what you’re not. Now, you can be who you are.
Capricorn
You’re known for the worlds you create. But for the last 18 months, you’ve been pre-occupied with clearing out the venue storage. You’re on sabbatical. Events are on pause. You’ve mastered the art of the solo road trip, of “table for one.” You’ve cleared out the dust in every corner of your apartment and now there’s nothing left to purge. Spending so much time alone has allowed you to get clear on who you want to invite in when you’re ready to host again. The same people won’t be getting the invitation. Take a nap while it’s all still pristine.
Aquarius
If there’s one thing you’ve learned over the last 18 months, it’s this: you’re not for everyone. The more you define your boundaries and clarify your needs, the better you can read the room. Identifying who isn’t your audience has allowed you to speak more clearly to those who want to hear you. Who needs a friend or a patron or a collaborator who only seeks to put words into your mouth anyway? Defining your audience has done remarkable things for your creativity. Keep singing.
Pisces
It’s possible that you lost respect for many of your heroes over the last 18 months. But the disappointment in those people who were supposed to guide you has only made you more determined to be a better leader yourself. Your public world has gotten smaller but it’s also so much better defined. You used to be so concerned with being everything to everybody but this eclipse cycle has allowed you to proudly announce that you’re not a one stop shop, the doctor is not in; you specialize. The world has only seen a glimpse of what you have to offer. From here on out, you get to expand.
Aries
You’re usually such an optimist, but let’s be real: this eclipse cycle broke your spirit. Adventure’s unattainable. Your studies and travels have had to be so targeted when you usually thrive on spontaneity. But there’s been something sweet about finding more joy close to home, making a temple of your immediate environment. Who needs to go to Paris when you can be besties with your barista? Your sanctuary is compact but it’s still adorned with fertile, thriving plants. The truth is: you’ll always be hungry for yet another answer. So is this delayed gratification or have you learned patience?
Taurus
November 19th’s eclipse shook you to your core. Empowering and destabilizing all at once. This one is less personal. Thank goddess. Use this as a chance to reflect on how much better you are at minding your own business. You’ve shaken off a lot of other people’s energy over the last 18 months. There have been painful breakups and necessary debts. All of this though has set you free. The skeletons in the closet are released. You even taught some how to dance.
Gemini
Not everyone who you reflect wants to reflect anything back to you. If you’ve learned anything over the last 18 months, it’s that you need to keep things VIP. The door girl is exhausted as the list gets more and more exclusive but you’re no longer faking it. This is reason to celebrate. Of course not everyone you’ve lost in this time has been a choice. Some of this heartbreak has been unbearable. Some of those mirrors are deeply missed. Even on the hardest days though, it’s worth it to devote yourself to love.
Cancer
Maintenance has taken over your life for the last 18 months and needless to say, it’s been a constant struggle. Once you think you’ve solved it, another wrench gets thrown into the gears. Whether you’re managing your health, improving your fitness or fighting an uphill battle, keeping up with yourself has become both a spiritual practice and a full time job. This eclipse marks the end of this chapter. You’ve ritualized your routine and made peace with your well-being, as well as your dis-ease. You’ve alchemized what used to feel insurmountable into something so mundane, it feels like nothing.
Leo
The Gemini-Sagittarius eclipse cycle brought unbridled growth to your community, your friends and your audience. There are so many new eyes on your work. It’s wonderful to feel seen but it’s also made you crave specificity in your creative practice. Throwing it up on the wall to see what sticks no longer works for you. If you’re making it for everyone, you have to make a ritual of your process. This album is stripped down, less exuberant. You’re more certain about what you want. Trust the order will remain as you slowly let in more chaos.
Virgo
Under construction has been your theme for the Gemini-Sagittarius eclipses over the last 18 months. You’ve learned that no recognition will ever satisfy you if the foundation you’ve built isn’t sturdy. As they say, “Wherever you go, there you are.” Landing has been your primary motivator. You’ve moved somewhere and moved back. You’ve contacted your ancestors, made peace with your parents and developed a new language with the Earth itself. What’s left is tiny. Your apartment is downsized. But you know that everything there is yours.
Libra
Your favorite flower shop is closed for good. Group chats come and group chats go. Nostalgia boils to the surface and simply evaporates. Maybe it’s your family that’s smaller. You’ve stopped talking to your sister. Days that once felt over-scheduled, now feel more intentional. But you miss some of the spontaneity, the wild nights, the friends that find you wherever you go. This eclipse makes its final cuts on your little corner of the world. Despite all the loss, there have been a few people who don’t stop calling, places that you can’t abandon, appointments that must be kept. Hold what remains tight.
Scorpio
You have way less stuff than you did 18 months ago. The purge has been real. Thank goddess for Marie Kondo, am I right? Accepting help has been your greatest challenge. It’s humiliating to be so particular about what you desire, what you crave, what you deeply want. But you’re learning that nothing feels right until you get specific. Wanting anything that you can get always disappoints. This eclipse inspires one last clearing of your purse. Pause for a moment before you start collecting again. Take note of the essentials that never left, that keep you alive.
