Hallo bb,
The New Moon in Scorpio is almost here. It goes exact on November 4th at 5:14 PM ET. For now, let’s collect the vibes, shall we?
Scorpio is peak autumn, damp decaying leaves coat the ground. Rather than crunch under our shoes as they would during Libra season, the Scorpio leaves melt beneath our feet. Like slow running water, our passage to the campsite is hushed. Muddy footsteps washed away in chilly rain. “Shhhhhhhhh!”
Scorpio is fixed water. Fixed signs are consistent. Water signs are what flows through us, whether that’s love, passion, anxiety, abandon, despair or fear. It takes monumental effort to change how a Scorpio feels about something. Consistency protects, even when what’s reliable is well past its expiration date.
I’ve written before about Scorpio as a glacier, as an architect of lakes. With Mars also at home in Scorpio right now, we’re well-equipped to go deep, to carve a protective body of water. We’re getting our hands (and our hearts) dirty. Like teenagers making out in the woods though, we’re hiding in plain sight. There’s an exhibitionist quality to Scorpio. Scorpios don’t want you to know their secret but they want you to know that they have one. Not a tease, but a blood oath.
This New Moon in Scorpio finds us gathered around the campfire, bunkered up at the edge of the lake. New Moons are dark, but for now, we make our own light. We have the hearth to keep us warm.
Quick-witted Mercury left its retrograde shadow (on November 2nd) and is now covering new ground for the first time since September 6th (the New Moon in Virgo). During Mercury’s time in Libra, they’ve clashed with Pluto three times. Pluto magnifies and leads us down windy, obsessive paths. No stone goes unturned. For the last two months, we’ve been digging for clues in the depths of our ex-lover’s ex-girlfriend’s Instagram. Now, we must leave that overly-detailed, borderline stalker-level behavior behind and go forth. We’ve “studied” enough.
Though the fire is warm, this New Moon isn’t so simple. (What is?) The Sun and the Moon are exactly opposite Uranus, planet of disruption and quick change. The thing about Uranus and fixed signs though is that fixed signs don’t want to be disrupted and they definitely don’t want to change. (Remember: Consistency = protection.) Fixed signs do not want to move. They’d rather be electrocuted than wander off the path to avoid a lightning strike. But this New Moon in Scorpio recognizes Uranus’ game. It reminds me of “It’s Oh so Quiet” as covered by Bjork (front woman of the Scorpio stellium). We can only say “Shhh” so many times. Eventually, we burst.
It's oh, so quiet, shh, shh
It's oh, so still, shh, shh
You're all alone, shh, shh
And so peaceful until
[Enter: Uranus]
You fall in love, zing boom
The sky up above, zing boom
…
So what's the use
Wow bam
Of falling in love?
(tbh, the entirety of Post is a vibe for this New Moon — “Army of Me” as Mars in Scorpio, “Hyperballad” as the Moon in Scorpio, “Possibly Maybe” as Mercury in the final degrees of Libra, “Isobel” as Saturn in Aquarius…)
Another transit hanging heavy over this New Moon is Mars’ upcoming clash with Saturn on the 10th. Mars, the fighter, challenges Saturn, the long game crone. Both planets are in their preferred home sign but Mars is in the power position. This is the third time this year that Mars has inserted itself into the ongoing fray between Saturn and Uranus (the collective, steady shakeup of the status quo). What defeated us in January and frustrated us in July feels possible now. Not easy but possible.
We have the energy to change the narrative and the courage to course correct. Even if later we have to reframe or surrender, right now there’s an undeniable momentum.
What do you want to say you were doing when the sky was caving in?
Hiding?
Or falling in love?

Scorpio
Relationships are a choice. You don’t have to go scorched-earth just to prove that you’re worth the attention. What if you set a lovely agenda? What if your garden was filled with marigolds? What if, without asking, they came to you? This New Moon reveals who and what needlessly empties your cup. Time for a refill. Patience—not flexibility—is your virtue. But you don’t have to wait for anyone. Go with the offer of autonomy. Choose you. Choose your own marigolds.
Sagittarius
You’re usually one to shout your ideas from the rooftops, cracking a beer with anyone who’s down for your manifesto. Who cares if you’re cringe? You’re on a roll! But this New Moon takes you to a sequestered alcove, deep in the maze of your active mind. Knowing what’s out of your control is step one. Victory comes later. First, things must be assessed from a place of retreat. Enemies reveal themselves when we’re absent or powerless. Take note of who’s eager to claim your space.
Capricorn
What you personally like doesn’t have to be what everyone else likes. But this New Moon puts you on a conference call with the zeitgeist. Your lover is seeking cuddles. Your art is seeking feedback. Your audience is seeking memes. It feels good to create with the collective in mind. Prepare your vulnerabilities as a tasting menu. You don’t have to give up the farm-to-table salt of each tear. But if you want to catch fire, you have to share.
Aquarius
It takes courage to admit you want power and to confess what you’d do for influence. This New Moon says “this space is yours so how are you gonna use it?” Now is not the time to be shy. Paint the walls any color you’d like! Spread out and make a mess. Diffuse your oils! Innovation is never tidy. Leaving behind the part of yourself who was OK with staying small requires a grieving process though. Cry, wail, embrace the tectonic shift.
Pisces
This New Moon is for cozying up with your wildest dreams. It’s for indulging dumb ideas and flirting with possibility. Yes, exploration requires a break in your routine. Time zones change. But! The great work requires a daily practice. To put it simply: the big things require tiny adjustments. Start small. 500 words in a journal. 5 minutes of French in the evening. Flossing before work. Reading before bed. Everything accumulates. Shift a habit / change your trajectory.
Aries
You know when a collaboration is meant for you because it feels like magic. Not effortless, but transformative. Alchemy makes you sweat. This New Moon highlights where you might he hoarding your resources. Why are you meeting offers to share your skills with resistance? Your ideas are valuable but they don’t have to be so precious. Gold flows. What would it take for you to make room in your vessel?
Taurus
Adrienne Rich wrote this of relationships, “[love] is a process, delicate, violent, often terrifying to both persons involved, a process of refining the truths they can tell each other.” This New Moon splashes cold water against your tired face, a sweet but sudden reminder that your commitments need software updates. You’ve changed and you need to communicate that to your partner(s), collaborators, and besties. Let them bend with you. What’s meant to remain won’t break.
Gemini
This New Moon activates warrior mode. Or admin mode. You. have. things. to. get. done. and. you’re. going. to. do. them. Go on, plow ahead. Just a fair warning: some unexpected roadblocks will occur. Hasn’t that been the theme? For the last several years? It’s because the universe wants to keep you out of “always be optimizing” mode. There’s more to life than rise and grind. Humility beats becoming a robot, ok?
Cancer
You’re particularly sensitive to your own creative tides. It’s obvious when you’re in a rut. Nothing flows. What you’re experiencing now isn’t a lack of inspiration or writer’s block. You’re hitting a barrier of expectations. You can’t deliver whatever you want. Someone else is writing the instructions. This New Moon is about shaping your creativity. Remember: there’s freedom in structure. Submit like an eager lover to your limits and discover how to thrive.
Leo
This New Moon wants you to take off your shoes and sink your feet into the earth. You’re not going anywhere fancy until you tidy up at home. Yes, there’s a lot of mess to clean up. But you have the energy to tackle it all: a difficult chat with mom, a cup of coffee with your ancestors, a night on the couch with your roommate. Drop your anchor to the ocean floor so your impulses—not your fears—can lead you back into the world. It’s easier to leave when you know where and when you must return.
Virgo
This New Moon blows up your group chat. But you can’t quite follow the thread. It’s funny but there’s a bitter after taste and you don’t know how to respond. Will “!!” suffice? What does “!!” even mean? Emphasis? On what? The lesson is: don’t spend so much time communicating with people who confuse you. Or who leave you uninspired. Instead, use that energy to write a letter to your lover, or better yet, put it in your journal. If you don’t care, unsubscribe.
Libra
You know that project is a waste of your time. So why do you return? Again and again? Week after week? Your resources are better spent on snacks. Sure, you’re doing it for the security: the reliable check or the comfortable hug. But is it enough? It’s not, is it? It’s heavy and isolating and weighing you down. Collaboration makes you feel lighter so call a meeting and get some outside opinions. Asking for feedback reminds you how to laugh.
