Horoscopes for the New Moon in Pisces
rejoice y'all, it's the sweetest new moon of the year
In honor of today’s new moon, the sweetest new moon of the year, let us begin with two (2) songs to set the mood.

Today (3/2) at 12:45 pm ET, there’s a New Moon at 12º Pisces. Conjoined to expansive Jupiter (Pisces’ ruling planet), this New Moon is a blessing like we haven’t experienced in a long time. Pisces—our mutable water sign, the final sign of the zodiac—is as vast as the ocean itself. Jupiter’s presence only makes this ocean even bigger. It’s quite thrilling to have the freedom to explore this abundance. But having too much space can also make things diffuse. Pisces have a reputation for being leaky, spreading themselves emotionally thin, burning the candle on both emotional ends.
This New Moon contains so much hope. We can have it all! Peace, love, unity, all of it. But we need somewhere to put that hope.
A few years ago I wrote a poem which ended with this line:
All my life, I’ve been looking for a wall when I’ve needed a bowl.
This New Moon needs a bowl.
Happiness needs a container.
Maybe that bowl is Venus and Mars. The two planets have been dancing together, hot and heavy in Capricorn since early January. On the 6th, they come together for one last tryst at 0º Aquarius. This is the same place where Jupiter and Saturn met for their once-in-twenty-year Great Conjunction in December 2020. Societal shift becomes relational need. This aspect is about co-regulating for apocalypse, translating “we live in unprecedented times” to actual acts of service and care.
As of last night (3/1), Venus has finally cleared her retrograde shadow. This means that for the first time since December 19th, the love planet is covering new territory. At last, forward motion. But both Venus and Mars are also applying to a final conjunction with Pluto (who Venus has already met up with on 12/11 and 12/25) which goes exact tomorrow (3/3). Pluto’s presence in the room makes one think that something needs to resurrected, like, literally brought back from the dead.
Every conjunction of planets is the ending of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. There’s a necessary shedding that comes with this dark phase. But this aspect suggests there’s something that needs a rebirth, something which has otherwise refused to fall away. You weren’t actively trying to shed whatever this is. It’s too off your radar for that but as it bubbles to the surface, it still makes your heart flutter. Pay attention to what refuses to be left behind. One last sweep before walking through the portal door.
Another possible bowl for this New Moon overflow is the conjunction of Mercury and Saturn (which goes exact today, just before the New Moon). Mercury and Saturn meet in the middle decan of Aquarius, a place of translation. Mercury-Saturn is deliberate. It’s an aspect of technical maturity and ideological commitment. Mercury received a major download of new information when it squared off with Uranus on February 24th, and now the assignment is to integrate that novelty into systems that will endure. Communicating with brevity and intention is key.
One last bowl for this New Moon, to be completely honest, is grief. If there was ever a time to collapse into your feelings, to get it all out. This is it.
Pisces will hold anything but it shouldn’t hold everything.
Yes, this New Moon is conjunct buoyant Jupiter. But Jupiter is at the end of his cycle too, about to go into the heart of the sun. Once Jupiter finally meets the sun later this week on the 5th, we can start over, embrace the sea and put the past behind us. Many are wondering when the magic of Jupiter in Pisces will start showing up and I believe after the 5th, there will be more gains. For now, it’s OK to be sad. But release some of that sadness. Cry it all out. Let it go.
As much as this New Moon requires a container, it also leaves room to simply make a wish. It’s about trusting that the universe will provide. This week is jam packed with cycles resetting across many areas of life. What’s stagnant now won’t feel this way in a few days or a few weeks or a few months. The wish can be as big as you want it to be. Just make sure it’s clear. Even if it’s poetry. this new moon shows you how much space you can find in stillness and silence, how inspiration strikes when you allow yourself to be unapologetically empty.
it’s easy to submit to a sense of alienation, surrender to non-belonging but instead, schedule your dreams. attend the details like you would around the fire at the séance: decant the lavender, keep your secrets.
(ps, like the moon, you’re an iconic satellite. everyone knows you. if you keep pushing so hard, you’re going to knock yourself out of orbit. who has time for damage control? chill.)
to you, freedom comes from mastery: winning friends in foreign cities, completing a course of study, or passing on spiritual knowledge. your beliefs need a home so it’s time to make a blueprint.
Taurus
today’s new moon brings fresh perspective to your search for community. a piercing light of clear vision helps you find your way out of the fog of loss.
with this new clarity, you might feel like it’s your responsibility to pass on all the information about how you got to this place. but helping everyone else is not the only value you bring to the table. forget work and throw a party instead. your activism needs the release.
