Chiron in Taurus
"I just wanna dance."
Hola bbs,
Writing this little intro while sitting in the grass in the Long Meadow in Prospect Park, looking up at the rising full moon in the sky. Summer is here. The vibes are HIGH in New York City (the Knicks won the NBA Championship, the Mamdani-endorsed girlies won all their primaries, and the rent is FROZEN BABY), and I am ready to “try to have a good summer.” Summer is classically the time of year when I get most depressed so we’ll see how this goes.
Some announcements:
Experimenting with offering readings on THURSDAYS for the rest of the summer. Just opened up spots through Labor Day. If you want to get a reading this summer, get it on Thursday!!
ALSO! THIS SUNDAY, June 28 at 10 AM ET, I’m going LIVE here on this newsletter writing platform known as Substack. It was fun to do last month so we’re doing it again. We’ll talk the astrology of July, what famed French astrologer André Barbault (who predicted 9/11 and COVID) had to say about these times, gossip, and I’ll answer some questions if you have them. LIVE feed will be available to everyone, and recording will go out to paid subscribers.
And now, what I really wanted to write you about: Chiron in Taurus (+ by popular demand, horoscopes at the end!)
Chiron entered Taurus on June 19, 2026.
Chiron is a hot topic for many people. In the myth, Chiron was a centaur, a physician who could heal everyone else, but tragically, when struck by an arrow, could not heal himself. Chiron’s name was given to a planetoid that orbits between Saturn and Uranus, discovered in 1977 in the midst of the New Age healing era. Astrologically, Chiron is a symbol of healing, learning, and using one’s hands. The name has the same root as chiropractor. I’ve sat with many clients who have heard about Chiron in one way or another, and who are very interested in learning what their Chiron placement says about their wounds. It makes sense. We are a culture obsessed with “pain points.” Everyone needs a growth arc and a resilience comeback. And that’s because we’re hurting! Who doesn’t want some validation for that pain from the stars?
Part of this Chiron obsession, this wound obsession, comes from the fact that we just lived through 8 years of Chiron in Aries. Melanie Rheinhart, who wrote one of the books on Chiron, has this to say about Chiron’s placement in the cardinal fire sign:
“[With Chiron in Aries,] displays of bravado and fighting spirit compensate for the pain, self-doubt and fear underneath, which could result in a repeating cycle of futile and self-destructive endeavors; we tend to translate emotional tension immediately into premature action.
With this Chiron placement, we may demonstrate an almost militant self-sufficiency, being unable to ask for support and convinced that we must ‘go it alone’. Underneath, however, there may be a deep fear of doing anything that truly expresses what we want.”
Everyone is hurting, but it often feels like we’re all hurting alone. This is the struggle of Chiron in Aries. Though Rheinhart is writing about Chiron in Aries in an individual chart, I can see how this theme has played out in the collective since 2018/19. Hyper individualism as a panacea was everywhere over the last 8 years. If the 2010s were a wild west for social media, the internet, and having a “personal brand,” then the 2020s are when personal brands have become a lifestyle. You can either be confident/present or invisible/absent. You can be living online or living in the void. There is no inbetween. Self-sufficiency brought a lot of hurt during Chiron in Aries, but also often felt like the only remedy. I think of all the people I know who’ve had to, quite literally, become their own doctor, because the professionals were not providing proper care or diagnosis. Having to take care of yourself by yourself is isolating, and humans are not meant to do it. But we’ve had to do it. But what if we didn’t have to do it? This is where Chiron in Taurus comes along.
As Chiron moves into Taurus, the fixed earth sign, our remedies must become physical. Taurus, like Aries, is a youthful sign of the spring. The needs are simple. But with a fixed sign, the struggle and healing is less about forging a path, and more about maintenance. Taurus is stubborn. Taurus likes to pick a plan and stick to it. Taurus is a steward of the earth. I think we’re all desperate to touch grass and get back in touch with our bodies, and with Chiron in Taurus, touching grass needs to be a regular thing.
The last time Chiron left Aries for Taurus was May 28, 1976. After finding this date, I immediately went to look up what was happening in world history. Here’s what I found: The US and Russia signed a treaty effectively banning nuclear detonations outside weapon testing. Central Iowa was hit with a swarm of four tornadoes, completely destroying the small town of Jordan. Taxi Driver won the Palme D’Or at Cannes. May 28, 1976 was also the day on which events unfold in Richard Linklater’s cult classic film Dazed and Confused.
For the uninitiated, Dazed and Confused tells the story of a large ensemble of suburban teenagers in Texas, over the course of their last day of school. If there’s any lead character in the gaggle of teens, it’s Randy “Pink” Floyd, a star football player who easily codeswitches between the jocks, the freaks, and the geeks. He’s the quarterback and a huge stoner, and surprisingly thoughtful. The “plot” of the film hinges on whether Randy will sign a form swearing off drugs before his senior football season. Spoiler alert: the film ends with him tossing the crumpled contract in his football coach’s face.
I rewatched Dazed and Confused this weekend, as Chiron moved from Aries into Taurus, wondering if this movie that was released in 1993, and about 1976, could provide any clues about the present day. I’m trying to resist sounding like a stoned 19 year old myself, but there were d e f i n i t e l y some synchronicities. What immediately stood out to me is that the film depicts Middle America in full bicentennial madness with banks and convenience stores and sports fields covered in signage celebrating the US’s 200th birthday. Now, Chiron enters Taurus again as we all hold our breath for what’s to come at the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
At the end of the first act of Dazed and Confused, as the bell rings to signal the end of the school day, Ms. Stroud the young history teacher shouts this to the students over the cacophony of their exit:
“Okay guys, one more thing, this summer when you’re being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth Of July brouhaha, don’t forget what you’re celebrating, and that’s the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn’t want to pay their taxes.”
A line like this makes one question whether anything has changed at all in the past 50 years. Maybe the only thing that’s changed is that what’s obvious has only gotten louder.
Beyond the bicentennial brouhaha, Dazed and Confused’s major theme of adolescent suburban ennui is timeless, and it does a near perfect job of capturing the way people in their late teens and early 20s think they’re the first person to ever have a thought. The energy of Chiron leaving Aries and entering Taurus—on the very day that the film’s action takes place!!—is best encapsulated in a scene with the three nerds: Mike, Tony and Cynthia, are aimlessly driving around, looking for a party. Any party. On the drive, Mike admits to Tony and Cynthia that though he’s spent his entire high school career trying his best so that he can go to law school and then become a lawyer for the ACLU, so that he can help people (very Chiron in Aries), he actually realized that he doesn’t even like people and doesn’t want to help them.
He ends his confession with, “...I’m just trying to be honest about being a misanthrope.”
“So you’re not going to go to law school? What do you want to do?” Tony asks.
“I wanna dance,” says Mike.
Mike doesn’t want to save the world all by himself. He actually hates people. He’s a burned out 17 year old. He just wants to dance. He just wants to feel something. I’m sorry but: are we not all here in 2026?
Melanie Rheinhart writes this about Chiron in Taurus, “Chiron in Taurus encourages us to live by our own values, even if we need to go against the mainstream in order to do so. People with this placement often feel wounded by values that are foreign to their true nature, but which were inherited from their parents or society. Their journey is to discover what is really important to them.”
Chiron was last in Taurus from 1976 through 1984, and before that from 1926 through 1934, and before that from 1876 to 1884. These are time periods that covered the end of Reconstruction, the Gilded Age and rise of robber barons; the Stock Market Crash of 1929, the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl; the 1970’s energy crisis and the Iranian Revolution. Chiron in Taurus is clearly a harbinger for economic turbulence. The spiritual girlies on Instagram might say it’s about “healing our material pain points.” Ultimately, I think it’s about healing ourselves through healing the earth. Healing ourselves through generosity. Healing ourselves through using our hands. Rolling around in the mud and realizing that being alive might not be so embarrassing after all.
“I wanna dance,” says Mike.
Me too.
Chiron will be in Taurus from June 19 through September 17, 2026. Then, Chiron will return to Aries for a few months, before heading back into Taurus for good on April 14, 2027 through 2034.
Here’s some notes for each sign (read for your rising sign. If you’re born during the day, you can read your sun sign for a second opinion. If you’re born at night, read your moon sign for a second opinion.)
Aries risings: The Chiron in Aries period since 2018 has felt maybe too personal. The Chiron stations in the summer and around Christmas probably felt like your heart was going to burst out of your chest. As Chiron moves into Taurus, things get less dramatic and more practical. Healing now is centered around both making enough and being enough. How can you nurture yourself to better nurture others?
Taurus risings: Since 2018, your healing journey has been going on behind closed doors. You may have been moving far away or exploring taboo topics or doing a lot of quiet meditation. With Chiron now in your sign, your healing journey will start to integrate into your everyday life and eventually your identity. You’ve changed a lot, and now it’s time to be the change.
Gemini risings: Chiron’s transit through Aries since 2018 has found you doing a lot of public service: making new friends and coming up against challenges toward realizing your dreams. Your struggles have become wins, and they’ve also been televised. As Chiron enters Taurus, you get to take your healing behind the scenes. Go on a retreat and don’t tell anyone.
Cancer risings: Ugh, I honestly hate the term “pain points” but it really does fit for the journey you’ve been on since 2018, with Chiron in Aries moving through the most public part of your chart. Healing has come through your public life, or perhaps you’ve had to heal wounds that came from your public life. Putting yourself out there has been a struggle. As Chiron enters Taurus, you’re gathering a care team, and learning you don’t have to do it alone.
Leo risings: You’ve been through a lot since 2018, and at this point, you could start a school on healing. Your biggest struggles and biggest wins have come in the realm of travel, education, and expanding your mind. As Chiron enters Taurus, you’re challenged to take on a new role and be vulnerable in it.
Virgo risings: Since 2018, Chiron has been in the part of your chart that isn’t just about your stuff, it’s about everyone else’s stuff. You’ve been challenged to face some skeletons in the closet, and learn to compromise. How can you translate last year’s heartbreak into next year’s hit song? Maybe you should write a book about it.
Libra risings: Girlies, we have not been having a great time in our closest relationships for the last 8 years. Business partnerships, romantic partnerships and close friendships have brought lesson after lesson. As Chiron enters Taurus, healing comes through collaboration, vulnerability and letting the people you trust support you. Also, I promise, if your romantic life is struggling or nonexistent, it will get better.
Scorpio risings: Whether you’ve been struggling with your health, with a day job, with the people who work for you, with getting through the day, or all of the above: Chiron’s transit through Aries since 2018 has made healing into a practice for you. With Chiron moving into Taurus, it’s time to get out of the trenches and dance with the people you love.
Sagittarius risings: Since 2018, Chiron’s transit through Aries has made both your dating life and your creative life less like a party and more like a creative arts therapy session. Now that Chiron is moving into Taurus, your task is to make healing into a daily practice. Use your hands. I see you giving massages and making little clay bowls. Not a bad time to take up pottery.
Capricorn risings: Chiron’s transit through Aries since 2018 has given you a detailed tour of all your vulnerabilities at home and with your family. Building a foundation is hard!! But somehow, you’ve built something! As Chiron enters Taurus, your healing journey moves into the creative realm. It’s embarrassing to want things, but everyone does. Share what you want!!!
Aquarius risings: Chiron’s transit through Aries since 2018 has brought a lot of vulnerable conversations. Friend breakups and car breakdowns and extreme parasocial relationships with podcasters. As Chiron enters Taurus, it’s time to take the healing journey home. It’s time to nest and let yourself relax. When you feel safe, you can help others feel safe.
Pisces risings: Chiron’s transit through Aries since 2018 has brought some hard reality checks re: money, resources, and what you need to survive. You’ve felt abundance and scarcity and at times been forced to live on scraps (emotionally or financially). As Chiron enters Taurus, you find healing through getting to know your neighbors and building community. Go to the bar and start a conversation.
